Reduce, reuse, recycle … Large quantities of plastic are still being produced. These partly high-quality plastics can be reused after use. Collecting, sorting, cleaning and crushing are the first necessary steps.

The field of competence “Recycling Systems” focuses on filtration and melt pumps, in particular the ERF high-performance melt filters from ETTLINGER. The melt is pressed through a rotating screen with millions of tiny holes. Impurities are retained on the outside of the screen and continuously scraped off. These filters are self-cleaning and perform their task trouble-free and cost-effectively over a long period of time.

In the next step, the perfectly cleaned melt is pressed through a perforated plate and thus is ready for the subsequent process steps.

To turn the melt into granules for new applications, there are various systems available. Depending on the type of polymer granulate that is to be produced again, GALA underwater granulators or strand granulators with dry cutting or wet cutting from AUTOMATIK, REDUCTION and SCHEER can be used.
In the last step moisture is extracted from the new spherical pellets or short strands in special dryers and centrifugal dryers.
After this processing, high-quality and pure polymers are again available for the production of new plastic products in the closed circular economy – for new films with excellent properties, new PET bottles, floor coverings and much more.
